  • Caleb Ferguson RP | CIN

Mariners' Caleb Ferguson: Headed to Seattle

The Pirates traded Ferguson to the Mariners on Wednesday in exchange for Jeter Martinez, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Ferguson signed a one-year contract with the Pirates in January after spending the 2024 season with the Astros and Yankees. The 29-year-old southpaw has and 3.74 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 34:14 K:BB across 43.1 innings this season. Ferguson boasts the lowest hard-hit rate the majors (25.2 percent ) and has given up just one home run this season, and he'll give the Mariners a reliable setup man out of the bullpen.

  • Yennier Cano RP | BAL

Orioles' Yennier Cano: Implodes in sixth loss

Cano (1-6) was charged with the loss in Wednesday's 9-8 defeat to the Blue Jays, allowing five runs on four hits and no walks with no strikeouts in two-thirds of an inning.

The five runs allowed were a season high for Cano, who served up a home run for the first time since his June 18 outing in Tampa Bay. Although closer Felix Bautista (shoulder) is on the shelf and Seranthony Dominguez has been traded away, Wednesday's showing doesn't bode well for the possibility of Cano receiving future save opportunities. Since the start of May, Cano has a dreadful 7.22 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 30:13 K:BB covering 28.2 innings.

  • Cardinals' Gordon Graceffo: Summoned from minors

The Cardinals recalled Graceffo from Triple-A Memphis on Wednesday.

Graceffo hadn't spent the required 15 days in the minors after being optioned, but he's eligible for recall because he's replacing an injured player in John King (oblique). The young righty will fill a middle-relief role for St. Louis.

  • John King RP | MIA

Cardinals' John King: Lands on IL with oblique strain

The Cardinals placed King on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a left oblique strain.

King suffered the injury during an appearance Tuesday versus the Marlins and will be shelved for at least the next two weeks. Gordon Graceffo was called up from Triple-A Memphis to replace King on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen.

  • Luis Mey RP | CIN

Reds' Luis Mey: Back with big club

The Reds recalled Mey from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.

He will take the roster spot vacated by left-hander Taylor Rogers, who was traded to the Pirates on Wednesday. Mey's stay in the big leagues could be brief, as the Reds will need to free another spot on the 26-man active roster once the newly-acquired Ke'Bryan Hayes officially reports to the club.

  • Jose Butto SP | SF

Giants' Jose Butto: Sent to Giants in Rogers deal

The Giants acquired Butto, right-hander Blade Tidwell and outfielder Drew Gilbert from the Mets on Wednesday in exchange for right-hander Tyler Rogers, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Butto was a weapon for the Mets in relief in 2024 but has regressed this season, posting a 3.64 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 41:22 K:BB over 47 innings. While Butto is likely to take Rogers' spot in the Giants bullpen, he has past starting experience and could be a rotation option if San Francisco opts to have him get stretched back out.

  • Bryan Baker RP | TB

Rays' Bryan Baker: Recovers from calf issue

Baker (calf) struck out one batter over a perfect inning of relief in Tuesday's 7-5 loss to the Yankees.

Baker suffered a right calf strain during his most recent appearance Saturday against the Reds, but he was able to avoid a trip to the injured list and was sharp in his return to the mound three days later. Since being acquired from the Orioles on July 10, Baker has collected two holds and has permitted six earned runs on four hits and four walks over 5.2 innings.

  • Ian Seymour P | TB

Rays' Ian Seymour: Sent back to Triple-A

The Rays optioned Seymour to Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.

Seymour had been serving as a starter with Durham prior to getting called up July 7, but the Rays used him exclusively out of the bullpen during his three-week stay in the majors. The lefty was used mostly in lower-leverage spots and gave up two earned runs while striking out seven batters over 8.2 innings in six appearances during his second stint of the season with the Rays. Tampa Bay called up right-hander Paul Gervase to replace Seymour in the bullpen.

  • Paul Gervase P | LAD

Rays' Paul Gervase: Moves up to majors

The Rays recalled Gervase from Triple-A Durham on Wednesday.

After spending the past three weeks at Triple-A, Gervase will join the big club for the second time this season. Prior to his demotion, Gervase made five appearances out of the Tampa Bay bullpen, giving up three earned runs on six hits and five walks while recording six punchouts over 6.1 innings.

  • Tyler Rogers RP | TOR

Mets' Tyler Rogers: Going to Mets in trade

The Mets acquired Rogers from the Giants on Wednesday in exchange for right-handers Jose Butto and Blade Tidwell and outfielder Drew Gilbert, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.

Rogers has been one of the most effective and durable relievers in baseball over the last several years and has posted a 1.80 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 38:4 K:BB over 50 innings for the Giants this season. The submarine-style hurler is making $5.25 million in 2025 and is an impending free agent. He'll likely slot in as the top setup man in New York in front of closer Edwin Diaz.
