  • Lenyn Sosa 2B | CHW

White Sox's Lenyn Sosa: On bench again Monday

Sosa is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Nationals, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Sosa is on the bench for the fifth time in seven games and appears to have lost his grip on the everyday role at second base, with veteran Elvis Andrus re-emerging as the top option at the position. Since the beginning of September, Sosa has mustered a lowly .446 OPS in nine games.

  • Elvis Andrus 2B | ARI

White Sox's Elvis Andrus: Nabs fourth straight start

Andrus will start at second base and bat ninth in Monday's game in Washington, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Andrus had appeared to move into a utility role toward the end of August, but he'll pick up his fourth consecutive start Monday and seems to have supplanted Lenyn Sosa as the White Sox's preferred option at the keystone. The 34-year-old is on an expiring deal and thus doesn't look to be a part of the White Sox's long-term plan in a non-contending season, but he's made it tough for manager Pedro Grifol to remove him from the lineup in recent weeks. Dating back to Aug. 1, Andrus has arguably been Chicago's top hitter overall, slashing .353/.375/.543 with four home runs and six stolen bases across a stretch of 33 games.

  • Luis Urias 2B | ATH

Red Sox's Luis Urias: Gaining traction at keystone

Urias will start at second base and bat eighth Monday against the Rangers.

Urias will stick in the lineup for the sixth time in seven games and looks to have usurped Pablo Reyes as the Red Sox's preferred option at the keystone. The 26-year-old hasn't seemed to earn the extra playing time based on his performance, however; he's slashing just .185/.313/.259 with a 34.4 percent strikeout rate thus far in September.

  • Adam Frazier 2B | LAA

Orioles' Adam Frazier: Absent from Monday's lineup

Frazier is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Astros.

Frazier posted a .967 OPS over his last 11 games, but the veteran will get a chance to rest one day after the Orioles locked up a playoff spot. Jordan Westburg will man the keystone for Baltimore on Monday night.

  • Luis Guillorme 3B | HOU

Mets' Luis Guillorme: Makes return from IL

Guillorme (calf) was activated from the 10-day injured list Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Guillorme has been on the shelf since late July because of a right calf strain, but he's been cleared to return to action following a six-game rehab assignment. Infielder Jonathan Arauz was sent down to Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.

  • Xavier Edwards 2B | MIA

Marlins' Xavier Edwards: Idle again Monday

Edwards is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.

Edwards went 4-for-16 with a walk, an RBI and two runs while making five consecutive starts at second base last week, but he appears to have since settled back into a utility role in the wake of Jorge Soler's recent return from the IL. With Soler having been reinstalled as the Marlins' designated hitter, Luis Arraez is expected to see most of his starts at the keystone moving forward rather than at first base. Edwards will hit the bench for a third straight contest as a result.

  • Thairo Estrada 2B | COL

Giants' Thairo Estrada: Stays warm Sunday

Estrada went 2-for-5 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Sunday's 11-10 win over the Rockies.

Estrada has five multi-hit efforts over his last 11 games, going 15-for-46 (.326) in that span. He's also logged three steals, two home runs and six RBI over those games. The second baseman continues to be one of the Giants' best hitters with a .277/.319/.423 slash line, 12 homers, 47 RBI, 61 runs scored and a career-high 22 steals over 108 contests.

  • Luis Garcia 2B | WAS

Nationals' Luis Garcia: Homers again Sunday

Garcia went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and a stolen base in Sunday's extra-innings win over the Brewers.

He drove a Brandon Woodruff fastball out of the park to center field in the second inning, the only run the Nationals managed until they scored the game-winner in the top of the 11th. Garcia has gone yard in back-to-back games, but since rejoining the big-league roster Sept. 8 he's batting just .207 (6-for-29), and the 23-year-old's future as a starting-caliber player in the majors remains in doubt.

  • Ketel Marte 2B | ARI

Diamondbacks' Ketel Marte: Clubs 23rd homer

Marte went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run, a double, a walk and an additional run scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over the Cubs.

Marte has had a strong September, hitting safely in 12 of his 15 games. He's gone 17-for-58 (.293) this month while producing nine RBI and nine extra-base hits. The second baseman is up to a .274/.355/.483 slash line with 23 homers, 77 RBI, 89 runs scored and six stolen bases over 141 contests overall. He continues to regularly hit leadoff versus southpaws and second versus right-handed pitchers.

  • Andres Gimenez 2B | TOR

Guardians' Andres Gimenez: Brings home three runs

Gimenez went 2-for-4 with a double, three RBI and a run scored in Sunday's win over the Rangers.

Gimenez knocked an RBI single and a two-run double during Cleveland's nine-run fourth frame. He's gone 17-for-49 (.347) with seven multi-hit performances over his last 13 games. His season slash line is up to .244/.312/.385 with 43 extra-base hits and 57 RBI through 575 plate appearances.
