Brewers' Connor Thomas: Tommy John surgery possible

Thomas will undergo surgery to have a loose body removed from his left elbow in mid-July, and it's also possible that he requires Tommy John surgery, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

The left-hander was already ruled out for the rest of 2025 due to the elbow procedure, but the possibility of Tommy John surgery also puts his availability for 2026 in jeopardy. After being selected by the Brewers during the Rule 5 Draft in December, Thomas made just two appearances this season before landing on the injured list.

  • Michael Kopech SP | LAD

Dodgers' Michael Kopech: Heads to IL again

The Dodgers placed Kopech on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with right knee inflammation, retroactive to June 28.

Kopech returned from a shoulder impingement injury June 8 but finds himself back on the injured list with a different injury. The right-hander had been stellar in his return to action as he made eight appearances and allowed zero runs across seven innings. With the 29-year-old heading back to the injured list, Will Klein was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

  • Cole Winn SP | TEX

Rangers' Cole Winn: Sent to Triple-A

The Rangers optioned Winn to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

The right-hander surrendered four runs (three earned) in his last two outings and will lose his place on the big-league roster. Winn had held his opponents scoreless prior to that and has a 1.59 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 11:8 K:BB across 17 big-league innings this year, so he should be back with the Rangers before too long.

  • Dane Dunning SP | SEA

Rangers' Dane Dunning: Rejoins big club

The Rangers recalled Dunning from Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

The right-hander was optioned to Round Rock on Friday but will make a quick return to the majors with Evan Carter (personal) being placed on the bereavement list. Dunning has made just two appearances with the Rangers this season and has a 4.47 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 49:18 K:BB across 46.1 innings at Triple-A.

  • Braves' Hunter Stratton: Joining Atlanta

The Pirates traded Stratton to Atlanta on Tuesday in exchange for outfielder Titus Dumitru and cash.

Stratton will report to Triple-A Gwinnett to begin his tenure with his new organization, though he will claim a spot on Atlanta's 40-man roster. The 28-year-old righty was DFA'd by Pittsburgh on Thursday after giving up seven earned runs in 2.2 innings with the big club, and he'll likely need to show improvement in the minors before getting a chance in Atlanta. Chris Sale (ribs) was transferred to the 60-day IL in a corresponding move.

  • Buck Farmer RP | CIN

Reds' Buck Farmer: Links up with Reds

The Reds signed Farmer to a minor-league contract Tuesday, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Farmer will report to the Arizona Complex League for now before eventually moving up to Triple-A Louisville, assuming all goes well. The veteran reliever has spent all of the 2025 season in the minors, posting an 8.64 ERA and 18:11 K:BB over 16.2 frames. Farmer was one of the Reds' most dependable relievers from 2022-2024, posting a 3.68 ERA and 194:83 K:BB across 193 innings.

  • Sam Moll RP | CIN

Reds' Sam Moll: Recalled from Triple-A

The Reds recalled Moll from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Moll has made just three appearances in the majors this season, allowing four runs over two innings. He has put together four consecutive scoreless outings with Louisville and will now give manager Terry Francona a left-handed bullpen option.

  • Reds' Connor Phillips: Sent back to minors

The Reds optioned Phillips to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

Phillips pitched two relief innings in Monday's game against the Red Sox, allowing four runs in the outing. Since he would have been unavailable for a day or two, the Reds will supplement their bullpen with a fresh arm.

  • Joe La Sorsa RP | PIT

Reds' Joe La Sorsa: Optioned to Triple-A

The Reds optioned La Sorsa to Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday.

La Sorsa's latest stint in the big leagues lasted just one day, and he allowed two runs over 2.2 innings in a relief appearance in Boston. The Reds are replacing him with a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Easton McGee SP | MIL

Brewers' Easton McGee: Back in big-league bullpen

The Brewers recalled McGee from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

McGee has made two appearances for the Brewers this season, yielding one run with a 4:1 K:BB over four innings. He'll give manager Pat Murphy a fresh bullpen arm.
